Our mission is to advance the science, practice, and policy conserving natural resources to sustain biodiversity, improve resilience in a changing climate, and re-establish an ecologically healthy relationship between nature and culture.
ICONARE actively promotes participatory, knowledge-based approaches to the conservation of natural resources. The Institute serves its members, partners, and the field by:
ICONARE members study and practice restoration in almost all ecosystem types – from prairies, savannas, and forests to tidal estuaries, freshwater wetlands, and coral reefs. Our membership includes practitioners, academics, students and restoration professionals, including passionate supporters from the corporate sector and public agencies, conservation groups, university research departments, environmental consulting firms as well as those interested in the field of restoration at any level, even if they do not work in the field professionally.
ICONARE embraces the principle that conserving natural resources is an engaging and inclusive process that succeeds with full participation of all sectors of society wherever it is implemented across the world. Our membership community includes both conservation professionals and others interested in supporting the field of conserving natural resources.
Membership
ICONARE is building partnerships with institutions at the forefront of the field through our Business and Organizational Membership program. A group membership offers your colleagues access to our resources, expands our network, helps broaden the expertise of the restoration community, and helps grow demand for restoration by actively promoting support for and investment in restoration programs and projects.
Group memberships extend to all ICONARE benefits to 5-20 staff managed by a single payer. We offer annual and monthly payment options as well as equity rates for groups with limited revenue.
Invest in the advancement of this field with a lifetime membership. The enduring support of lifetime members helps to sustain the Society's work at the global and regional level. Lifetime members enjoy all member benefits for life, without annual membership renewals. Pay one-time fee in a lump sum or over three installments.
Student Chapters Program enables students to come together and connect with both emerging and seasoned conservation professionals across ICONARE’s global network, participate in ICERR conferences, and take advantage of resources. Organized and run by students, student associations can be formed at any accredited academic institution and provide a means for those students interested in pursuing a career in some facet of conservation of natural resources to come together in a likeminded group.
The program can be formed by a motivated student group in collaboration with faculty and with support from their host institution. The annual base fee covers the cost ICONARE membership for
(1) faculty advisor and all participating students.
(2) Individuals must register with ICONARE to receive benefits and be recognized as active members of the ICONARE/Student Chapter.
